{"id":2358,"date":"2023-12-01T13:23:31","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T13:23:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/crlivediverse.net\/?p=2358"},"modified":"2023-12-05T12:27:09","modified_gmt":"2023-12-05T12:27:09","slug":"pina-by-adrian-jimenez-brais","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crlivediverse.uni-osnabrueck.de\/?p=2358","title":{"rendered":"PI\u00d1A by Adri\u00e1n Jim\u00e9nez Brais published in Repertorio Americano"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\">The play <em>PI\u00d1A<\/em>, written and directed by Adri\u00e1n Jim\u00e9nez Brais, premiered in 2019 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucr.ac.cr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Universidad de Costa Rica<\/a> as part of the program <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teatro.ucr.ac.cr\/node\/846\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">J\u00f3venes Dirigiendo<\/a> and has now been published in No. 33 (2023) of <em>Repertorio Americano<\/em>, journal of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.una.ac.cr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica<\/a>,  thanks to the efforts of Susanne Schl\u00fcnder, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Inspired by the German expressionist drama GAS I (1917\/18) by Georg Kaiser, <em>PI\u00d1A<\/em> projects the current repercussions of intensive pineapple farming into a future, where large-scale pineapple cultivation has led to an inhospitable climate and widespread pollution in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As part of the interdisciplinary seminar \u201cHumans \u2013 Environment \u2013 Culture: Transdisciplinary Perspectives on Costa Rica\u201d (Winter 22\/23) students of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-osnabrueck.de\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Osnabr\u00fcck University<\/a> worked on pineapple farming in Costa Rica and in this context also discussed <em>PI\u00d1A<\/em>, expressing desire to read the play. One student consequently contacted Adri\u00e1n Jim\u00e9nez Brais who, very generously, provided the manuscript of his work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">After <em>PI\u00d1A<\/em> also aroused interest at a round table during the <a href=\"https:\/\/hispanistentag-2023.uni-graz.at\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">XXIII. Congress of the German Association of Hispanists<\/a> on &#8216;contaminated existences&#8217;, Susanne Schl\u00fcnder inquired about possible avenues of publication.
